Frequently Asked Questions //

Is it safe to exercise with kidney disease?

There are serious medical concerns when beginning an exercise program with those who have kidney disease, and you should not start exercising on your own or with someone not properly trained.  With that being said, the answer is, yes!  Not only is it safe to exercise with kidney disease, numerous studies have shown the benefits of exercise for individuals with kidney disease.

Is this covered by insurance?

Treatments are covered by insurance as this program falls under the classification of physical therapy.  As long as your insurance has physical therapy benefits then your program should be covered.  Deductible and co-pays may apply.

Is the exercise strenuous or painful?

Absolutely not!  One of the main reasons to participate in Renal RehabTM is that the physical therapists have advanced training in working with individuals with medical conditions.  On the contrary you should actually feel better as you progress with your exercise program.

How come my physician hasn't heard about this?

Physicians are always interested in the best care for their patients.  Often physicians like to continue with what has worked well for them in the past and to make a change to the way they practice they need to see the benefits of something different.  While exercise has been shown for many years and through extensive research to be beneficial to individuals with kidney disease it has never made it to the main plan of care for most physicians.  One of our goals at Hood Healthcare LLC is to get physicians excited about the positive benefits of Renal RehabTM so that it becomes a part of every patients treatment.
