Many studies have been done over the past 20+ years as to the benefits individuals with kidney disease and those on dialysis can receive when participating in a medically designed exercise program. One of those benefits is the effectiveness of solute removal in their dialysis sessions. One study, that was published in 2006 in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, showed excellent results that can occur for this population. The study showed that with a proper exercise program, an individual on dialysis can improve hemodialysis effectiveness by increased serum urea clearance. Other studies have shown that with exercise, dialysis patients can improve blood flow into and out of muscle tissue, and thus move toxins from muscle tissue out into the blood stream where it can be removed during dialysis.

Hood Healthcare provides medical exercise testing as well as medically designed exercise programs for individuals with renal disease. Through our #renalrehab program we help people regain their physical and functional abilities.
